A Four-Month Salsify PIM Launch That Became the Enterprise Standard Across IDEX Corporation
July 20, 2026
USE CASE OVERVIEW
Warren Rupp Needed a Centralized PIM to Meet B2B Retailer Demands and Support IDEX’s eCommerce Growth
As part of IDEX Corporation, Warren Rupp, Inc. is a leading B2B manufacturer of air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps, serving industries that depend on heavy-duty equipment; chemical processing, mining, oil and gas, water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical. The Warren Rupp reputation has been built on the reliability, durability, and adaptability of its pumps, which are highly regarded by industry professionals.
As the market shifted toward eCommerce, Warren Rupp faced a new challenge: adapting internal systems and processes to meet the data demands of online sales and digital customer interactions. Manufacturing information, logistical data, product identifiers, technical specifications, marketing content, images, and explanatory diagrams all lived across separate teams and systems. Customers like Grainger and Fastenal needed every piece of that information at a high level of accuracy and staying ahead of constant changes had become, as the Warren Rupp team put it, a manual nightmare.
IDEX Corporation had already initiated a corporate-wide centralization of systems and structures across its 54 subsidiaries to lay the foundation for eCommerce growth. JD Edwards had been selected as the ERP, digital assets had been consolidated in a new Bynder DAM, and SAP Commerce powered the eCommerce sites. The critical missing piece was a centralized Product Information Management (PIM) system to consolidate product data from ERP and DAM and give product and marketing managers the tools to curate content for every customer. Warren Rupp partnered with Sitation to identify the right PIM and build an implementation approach that could deliver fast time-to-value and serve as an internal proof of concept for the broader IDEX enterprise.
Challenges
- Siloed and inconsistent product data across manufacturing, logistics, marketing, and creative teams
- Manual effort required to consolidate content and stay ahead of constant product data changes
- No centralized PIM to bridge ERP (JD Edwards), DAM (Bynder), and SAP Commerce
- High-accuracy demands from key B2B retailers like Grainger, Fastenal, and MSC
- Disparate processes and systems that could not support IDEX’s eCommerce growth goals
Goals
- Stand up a centralized PIM to consolidate ERP and DAM data into a single source of truth
- Deliver API-driven integration with upstream and downstream systems
- Enable direct syndication to Grainger and easy publishing to MSC, Fastenal, and other national accounts
- Improve internal SKU visibility and interdepartmental collaboration
- Prove out a cost-effective, scalable PIM model that could serve as an IDEX-wide proof of concept
Approach
Warren Rupp partnered with Sitation to lead the PIM selection process, gather technical and business requirements across teams, and design an implementation approach built for both fast time-to-value and long-term scale. After a structured evaluation, the teams identified Salsify as the ideal system to support Warren Rupp’s data management and content syndication needs. Sitation then delivered a focused four-month implementation, standing up Salsify PIM directly connected to Warren Rupp’s existing enterprise systems.
- PIM selection and requirements. Sitation gathered technical and business requirements across manufacturing, logistics, marketing, and creative teams, then evaluated PIM options against Warren Rupp’s integration, syndication, and scalability needs.
- System integrations. Salsify was integrated with JD Edwards (ERP), Bynder (DAM), and SAP Commerce, creating a centralized repository that connects product data from source systems through to the digital shelf.
- Retailer syndication. Direct syndication was configured to support the Grainger digital shelf, with a framework in place to extend publishing to MSC, Fastenal, and other national accounts.
- Data model and taxonomy. Sitation built a clear, consistent data model and taxonomy structure to support current needs and future expansion across IDEX subsidiaries.
- Cost-effective proof of concept. The engagement leveraged Salsify’s native capabilities to keep the implementation lean, prove the model quickly, and set a foundation for enterprise-wide adoption.

Additional Insight
From Proof of Concept to Enterprise Standard
The Warren Rupp engagement was designed as an internal proof of concept for IDEX Corporation was a fast, focused implementation that could demonstrate what a modern PIM stack could unlock for a B2B manufacturer. It delivered on that goal and then went further. Following the successful Warren Rupp launch, Salsify was endorsed as IDEX’s preferred PIM solution and Sitation was named the enterprise’s chosen partner for implementation and integration. What began as a single-subsidiary proof of concept became the PIM standard for an organization of 54 subsidiaries, giving IDEX a repeatable playbook for scaling product data management and eCommerce growth across the enterprise.
